As autumn sets in and winter fast approaches, it is imperative to keep your skin looking the best it can. With the drop in humidity, the air becomes dry and your skin is more prone to becoming flaky and itchy, which can lead to cracking, or even bleeding!

The key to combatting the changing environment’s effect on your skin? A trusted skincare routine! Here’s our go-to SkinCeuticals routine to avoid dry skin, step-by-step:

  1. Gentle Cleanser – this mild cream cleanser gently removes impurities and excess oil, while soothing and calming dry or sensitive skin. Use this in the A.M and P.M.
  2. Equalizing Toner – helps refresh and restore skin, while removing excess residue. Botanical extracts of witch hazel, rosemary, aloe, and chamomile in this toner work to soften, soothe, and tone skin. Use this in the A.M and P.M.
  3. C E Ferulic – for A.M. use only, this vitamin C serum improves the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while brightening the skin’s complexion.
  4. Hydrating B5 Gel – this hydrating serum binds moisture to the skin through a combination of vitamin B5 and hyaluronic acid, the body’s natural hydrator. Use this in the A.M and P.M.
  5. Face Cream – this rehabilitative face cream combats moisture loss with emollients. Use this in the A.M and P.M.
  6. Physical Fusion UV Defense Sunscreen – this sunscreen is specifically formulated for sensitive and very dry skin. Use in the A.M. only.
  7. Antioxidant Lip Repair – this treatment smooths and rehydrates the lip surface, providing relief of lip dryness.

Below are a few additional steps that dermatologists recommend to help combat dry skin as we approach the colder months:

  • When showering, be sure to close the bathroom door and use warm water, not hot.
  • After showering, gently blot your skin with a towel. Immediately apply a body moisturizer. Reach for an ointment or cream, as they are more effective and less irritating than lotions.
  • Use only gentle, fragrance-free skin care products if possible.
